CamWorld Americas Scholarship
Special Programme
The Cambridge WorldMUN Trust is pleased to be able to announce a new programme to run from 2005, made possible by the very generous contribution of funds by a private individual. It has been suggested by many people, particularly in the United States of America, that the multilateral nature of the United Nations prevents it from addressing urgent and critical problems that threaten the world. We believe that the multilateral nature of the United Nations is a unique asset, and that meaningful interaction between people from differing background is essential to building long-term solutions to disagreements.
The CamWorld Americas scholarship aims to encourage and assist students from the USA to travel to Model United Nations conferences outside America. We do not select among applicants on the basis of political viewpoint, but aim to support genuine desire to learn about international institutions.
We are able to award grants to support travel, accommodation & living expenses and conference registration fees. We expect to be able to support five students each year (either individually or in small groups), and ordinarily will not fund more than 50% of the cost of attending any particular conference. Under normal circumstances we pay grant money after the event, on receipt of a short report summarising the student’s experiences.
